Power House Dam on the Rogue River located just up stream from the town of Gold Hill is on its way out. The Dam was built in the 1940's as a hydro electric project but has been out of commission since the floods in 1964. The dam has provided a fun and exciting obstacle for white water rafters on the Rogue River for many years now but has also been a harmful obstacle for the native fish of the river. It is an exciting time on the Rogue, being able to see the river return to its natural state as well as being able to experience some new rapids in the river that have appeared with the removal of the dam.
